I Have Called Your Name

One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard is Sufjan Stevens' "Vito's Ordination Song," composed for his friend's ordination service several years ago. It is emotionally powerful and aesthetically beautiful, so much so that I am moved to tears almost every time I listen to it. The words have taken on a new meaning since we found out we have a child on the way. The song's poetically rich scriptural overtones are excellent, with hints of the Psalms, the incarnation, and Christ's coming. Thought I'd share the lyrics and song here.
